Changes to marking vehicles for tow

You are no longer guaranteed to get the job for a vehicle you mark. Do not load the vehicle onto your truck unless you get the job, as it may cause issues to occur.

Pay increased!

Hope everyone has been enjoying the pay increase!

Few things to keep in mind now that there are a lot more workers on duty:

  • Be sure to quickly drop off vehicles (primarily at the main lot) and move out before we have a line/pileup.

  • DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TOW-TRUCK IN THE YARD FOR LONGER THAN 5 MINUTES. Put it away if you need to leave for awhile.

  • If needed, you can park your personal vehicles in the same place the tow-trucks are parked. Just note you won’t be able to pull them out unless you’re clocked on duty.

  • PLEASE PROVIDE PROOF WHEN MARKING A VEHICLE FOR TOWING. I’ve seen some reports with no proof. You leave yourself open to lawsuits! Protect yourself!

  • If you ever need to contact me, be sure to use the Contact Us form. If some instructions are wrong or out of date, please let me know ASAP and I can update it.

Local impounds are working now!

Tom managed to get the paperwork done to clear up the confusion with the impound lot.

Please note the following:

  • When you mark a vehicle, be sure to take a selfie with the license plate and illegal parking in view. This will help prevent any confusion in regards to who may have taken the picture and such.

  • Scuffy will still not take our calls, so if there is a matter that requires Scuffy’s assistance, please direct them to the police.

  • When YOU mark a vehicle, you will receive the job to tow and impound it.

  • If the police mark the vehicle, any driver may receive the impound request.

Be sure to contact me via the Contact form on the Home page if any information needs to be updated.

New legislation regarding clamps!

Keep yourself safe! The new legislation can be found here:

This piece of legislation is intended to define the parameters for legal use of a "Tow Clamp" otherwise known colloquially as a "Boot." Use of a "Boot" outside of these parameters will result in the charge of "Criminal Misuse of a Towing Clamp" being applied to the offender.

There are only two instances when the use of a "Boot" is legal:

When the vehicle or item being "Booted" is abandoned on your personally owned private property. This does not apply to places of employment such as Senor Buns or Mosley's.

When the vehicle or item being "Booted" has been marked for tow and you are carrying out contracted Tow duties, whether through the local Tow Dispatcher or a private, personally-owned property calling for removal.

Tow workers must photograph the state of the illegally parked vehicle they were sent/called to tow.

The "Boot" must only be used to prevent an owner of the illegally parked vehicle moving it or otherwise interfering during the tow process.

Police vehicles are exempt from being "Booted." Any "Booting" of a Government vehicle (PD, EMS) will be deemed an unlawful use of the equipment.

Enacted on behalf of the Inaugural City Council by Chief Justice Alan Crane.
